Platinum

The IST AG platinum RTD temperature sensors are developed with the highest quality materials and cover a wide operating temperature range of -200 °C to +1000 °C. The sensors can operate in the harshest conditions while experiencing minimal drift. The construction is extremely robust and due to the small dimensions, the sensors are offered in various housings. The platinum temperature sensors are available with a standard TCR of 3850 ppm/K and with accuracies according to the IEC 60751 norm.

We supply you with a wide range of Pt temperature sensors - within very short delivery times! Many of our standard sensors are available from stock - otherwise the delivery time is approx. 6 weeks.

IST AG also offers custom RTD platinum sensors fitted to application-specific requirements in terms of specified TCR values, nominal resistance, dimensions, housings and lead wires amongst other variations. 

Nickel

IST AG offers nickel RTD temperature sensors with an operating temperature range of -60 °C to +300 °C. The sensors are characterized by a simple linearization and a steep characteristic curve which makes them suitable for HVAC applications, for example. The nickel RTD sensors offer an excellent long-term stability and easy interchangeability. The nickel temperature sensors are available with various TCRs such as 6180 ppm/K (Nickel ND), 5000 ppm/K (Nickel NL), 6370 ppm/K (Nickel NJ), 6720 ppm/K (Nickel NA) and Balco.

IST AG also offers custom RTD nickel sensors fitted to application-specific requirements in terms of specified TCR values, nominal resistance, dimensions, housings and lead wires amongst other variables.

TSic

TSic sensors are semiconductor temperature sensors that feature highly accurate measurements within a limited temperature range. They are ideal for mobile applications due to their low power consumption. The TSic is offered as a calibrated temperature sensor with an integrated signal converter for analog or digital output. Easily integrable, it offers excellent accuracy with long-term stability.

 

Platinum temperature sensors

The Innovative Sensor Technology IST AG platinum temperature sensors provide solutions for extreme temperature applications and are designed with the highest quality materials, allowing them to operate within a wide temperature range of -200 °C to +1000 °C.  Standard IEC 60751 sensors are offered in class F0.3 (0.12 %), class F0.15 (0.06 %), F0.1 (0.04 %), and higher accuracies upon request. The IST AG sensors are available in wireless (SMD) and wired configurations, and in sizes ranging from 1.6 mm to 10 mm (L), and 0.8 mm to 5.08 mm (W).  Standard sensors can be customized with a variety of lead wire material, length, and configurations.

  • Sensor Temperature Range

  • 150 °C Series (-50 °C to +150 °C)

    The IST AG 150 °C Pt Temperature Sensor Series offers excellent long-term stability and fast response time with low self-heating within a temperature range of -50 °C to +150 °C. ​The sensors are developed with an insulated enameled Cu-wire, which enables easy integrating into applications. The insulation is additionally removed at the end of the wire to enable easy welding or soldering. Due to the small diameter of the enameled Cu-wire (Ø 0.2 mm), the temperature sensor is offered with extremely small dimensions (see "characteristics" for more information about small dimensions) and with long, directly welded wires.  

    Furthermore, the 150 °C Pt Temperature Sensor Series can be customized to fit application-specific requirements e.g. wire lengths.

  • 200 °C Series (-50 °C to +200 °C)

    The IST AG 200 °C Pt Temperature Sensor Series offers an excellent long-term stability and fast response time with low self-heating within a temperature range of -50 °C to +200 °C.​ The sensors are offered in various standard lengths with Cu/Ag- single or stranded wire with PTFE -insulation. The directly welded wires offer an outstanding robustness and are optimal for connector assemblies or for soldering, welding and crimping. Additionally, the 200 °C Pt temperature sensors are also available with Ag-wire (Ø 0.25 mm) and metallized backside.

    Furthermore, the 200 °C Pt Temperature Sensor Series can be customized to fit application-specific requirements e.g. different insulation materials or lead wire diameters.

    The IST AG 300 °C Pt Temperature Sensor Series offers an excellent long-term stability and fast response time with low self-heating within a temperature range of -200 °C to +300 °C.​ The sensors offer a stable performance at a low price and are available with Au-coated Ni-wire which makes them ideal for soldering, brazing, crimping and laser welding.

  • 400 °C Series (-200 °C to +400 °C)

    The IST AG 400 °C Pt Temperature Sensor Series offers an excellent long-term stability and fast response time with low self-heating within a temperature range of -200 °C to +400 °C.​ The sensors are vibration and temperature shock resistant and offer excellent solderability.

    The standard 400 °C Pt Temperature Sensor Series is supplied with Ag-wires. Due to the wire material characteristics, the long directly welded Ag-wire shows very little impact on the sensor accuracy.

    Furthermore, the 400 °C Pt Temperature Sensor Series can be customized to fit application-specific requirements e.g. PTFE-insulation tubes.

    The IST AG 750 °C Pt Temperature Sensor Series offers measurements in high temperatures and excellent long-term stability, fast response time and low self-heating within a wide temperature range of -200 °C to +750 °C.​ Due to the special materials the sensors are very vibration resistant.

    The IST AG 850 °C Pt Temperature Sensor Series is the successor of the 750 °C Series offering temperature measurements from -200 °C to +850 °C. These RTDs are characterized by excellent long-term stability and fast response time with low self-heating even in harsh conditions and extreme temperatures.​ The Pt temperature sensors up to 850 °C are vibration and temperature shock resistant and offer simple interchangeability.

  • 1000 °C Series (-70 °C to +1000 °C)

    With the 3770 ppm/K characteristics curve, the IST AG 1000 °C Pt Temperature Sensor Series is specially developed for the automotive industry. The 1000 °C RTDs offer an excellent long-term stability and fast response time with low self-heating within a very wide temperature range of -70 °C to +1000 °C.​ The sensors are vibration resistant and offer simple interchangeability as well as small dimensions. 

    Furthermore, the IST AG Pt temperature sensors up to 1000 °C can be customized to fit application-specific requirements.

  • Sensor Characteristics

  • Inverted welded and bent leads (U) or axial lead wires

    For applications with limited space, IST AG offers solutions with inverted welded and bent leads or axial lead wires.

    Inverted and bent leads are the optimal solution for applications in tubes where sensors are soldered to the bottom of the tube. They are additionally used in applications with limited space where an optimal thermal contact is required and obtained by soldering sensors to surfaces. That’s why the temperature sensors are also offered with a metallized backside to increase thermal coupling and with long directly welded wires to increase assembly processes and robustness.

    Axial lead wires allow an extreme narrow sensor chip construction for applications where the sensor for example has to fit in a bore with an inner diameter of less than 0.6 mm.

  • Excellent thermal coupling and fast response time

    Metallized backside (M)

    To increase accuracy and response time, IST AG offers a standard RTD sensor with a metallized backside allowing the sensor to be soldered onto a metallic surface and thereby increasing the thermal coupling. 

    IST AG not only offers sensors with metallized backsides for soldering but also constructions like soldered sensors to tubes, in caps, on metal discs and onto various metals.

    RealProbeTemp (RPT)

    The RealProbeTemp is a pre-assembled stainless steel probe for the simplified manufacturing of temperature probes. The RPT provides an outstanding response time. The construction of the RealProbeTemp allows a minimized immersion depth (e.g. liquids at a depth of 10 mm or in some cases slightly less). Therefore it is an optimal solution in applications with limited space and pipe diameter.

    Especially for applications where reduced space and large temperature gradients between surroundings and the measurement medium poses a challenge, the RealProbeTemp is the ideal solution for an accurate measurement.

    The RealProbeTemp can act as a standalone probe assembly or as a sub-assembly inserted to minimize the fabrication process and materials of larger or more complex probe assemblies. This results in reduced manufacturing costs and enhanced performance of the finished assembly.

  • Directly welded insulated wires

    Enameled Cu-wire (1E)

    IST AG offers temperature sensors with extended and directly welded insulated enameled Cu-wire. The insulation is additionally removed and pre-tinned at the end of the wire, which enables easy soldering into applications. Due to the small diameter of the enameled Cu-wire (Ø 0.2 mm), the sensor is offered with extremely small dimensions; as low as 0.8 mm x 3 mm or 1.2 mm x 1.6 mm and with extended directly welded wires. Temperature sensors with enameled Cu-wires are used in applications up to +150 °C, short-term excessive temperatures up to +180 °C are definitely possible.

    Straight and stranded PTFE-wire (2I / 2L)

    IST AG offers sensors with Cu/Ag straight and stranded wire with PTFE-insulation. The directly welded wires enable an outstanding robustness and are optimal for connector assemblies or for soldering, welding and crimping. The Cu/Ag straight and stranded PTFE-wire can be extended or directly welded to the sensor chip to meet application-specific requirements. 

  • Customized

    IST AG offers various options of sensor customization to meet application-specific requirements. Our temperature sensors can be adapted in many different ways to fulfill individual demands.

    Extended 2- to 4-wire constructions

    Pt temperature sensors are offered with two- or four-wire constructions depending on the application. IST AG offers RTDs with extended wires or with wires directly welded to the sensor chip on automated welding machines, enabling consistent quality and robustness. Various types of wire material and length are available depending on application-specific requirements.

    Shrink tube

    To avoid electrical short-circuits, IST AG offers sensor solutions assembled with shrink tubes covering one or more of the electrical contacts.

    IST AG offers various Pt temperature sensors where shrink tubes are placed over the extension point, shrink tubes covering the sensor chip or both in one solution.

    Connector

    To optimize assembly at the customer end, IST AG offers RTD solutions with ready mounted connectors on wire ends. We offer various types of connectors for different applications. Contact us for more information regarding your specific requirements.

    On sheets / discs

    IST AG offers Pt temperature sensors soldered to metal discs, on sheets or in caps. Based on RTDs with metallic backside, our customers can benefit from the optimal thermal coupling of this solution without the need of in-house soldering technology. IST AG offers soldering to customer materials or provides the design, fabrication and assembly of the entire sub-assembly. Materials like 1.4401, 1.4404, hastelloy or titanium have been successfully used.

    Sensors in housing

    IST AG offers various solutions of pre-assembled sensors into housings. Sensors are available mounted in a conventional way where the sensor is inserted into the housing whereafter the housing is filled with an epoxy, polyurethane or silicone. Additionally, IST AG offers assemblies where the temperature sensor is soldered to the bottom of the housing resulting in better thermal contact and faster response time. The housings are available with various diameters, lengths and materials and can easily be inserted into applications, thereby optimizing assembly by the customer.

    In round ceramic housing (R)

    Sensors implemented into round ceramic housing enables an easy and accurate assembly into applications. The ceramic tubes are offered in standard and customized sizes and are applicable in temperatures ranging from -200 °C to +600 °C.

  • SMD (Surface Mountable Device) / Wireless temperature sensors

    SMD

    IST AG offers wireless RTD Platinum SMD sensors for automatic PCB assembly processes with wrap-around contacts on both ends. We offer different SMD technologies for different applications and temperature ranges, e.g. SAC305-tinned wrap-around contacts for the normal PCB assembly process, high temperature solder wrap-around contacts for high temperature applications up to +250 °C or Ni/Au wrap-around contacts for special requirements or wire bonding applications. The SMD sensors are available with various accuracies of up to IEC 60751 F0.15 (IST AG reference class A) and in different dimensions (0805/1206) with other dimensions upon request. SMD sensors are characterized by excellent long-term stability, fast response time and low self-heating.

    FC

    The wireless IST AG FlipChip series features Pt temperature sensors with excellent long-term stability, fast response time and low self-heating. The FlipChips are developed with contacts on one side resulting in no short-cut risk on the backside of the chip. Furthermore, IST AG offers different FC technologies for different assembly processes (reflow-soldering, bonding or welding). The FC sensors are available with accuracies of up to IEC 60751 F0.3 (IST AG reference class B) and in different dimensions (0603/0805/1206/further dimensions on request) with other dimensions available on request. 

    The FC sensors are optimal for applications with limited space requirements and offer an optimal price/performance ratio. Due to the small mechanical dimensions, a standard 0805 FC will use the same space as a standard 0603 SMD sensor on a PCB.​

  • Small dimensions

    IST AG offers various sensor solutions for applications with limited space requirements.

    MiniSens

    The IST AG MiniSens offers the smallest footprint with dimensions of only 1.2 mm x 1.6 mm making the sensor an optimal solution for limited space applications. The MiniSens is available with accuracies of up to IEC 60751 F0.1 (IST AG reference class Y) and with long directly welded wires. The sensor can be used in applications with an operation temperature range of up to +600 °C.

    The MiniSens is also offered with a metallized backside enabling optimal thermal coupling.

    SlimSens

    The IST AG SlimSens sensor is specially developed for applications requiring sensors fitted into tubes with very small diameters. The SlimSens measures 0.8 mm x3 mm and is the optimal solution for applications with tube diameters from 1 mm. The SlimSens is available with accuracies of up to IEC 60751 F0.1 (IST AG reference class Y) and with long directly welded wires within various ohmic resistances.   • Temperature measurement up to 600 °C in class A

    The IST AG PW RTD sensor has been developed as an alternative to the traditional wire-wound sensors. The PW sensor combines the advantages of high accuracy and precision of the wire-wound sensors with the advantages of thin-film sensors that offer robustness, small dimensions and very low hysteresis at an optimal price level.

    Compared to a standard thin-film sensor measuring up to +300 °C in IEC 60751 F0.15 (IST AG reference class A), the IST AG PW sensor measures with high accuracy up to IEC 60751 F0.15 (IST AG reference class A) within a wide operating temperature range from -200 °C to +600 °C.

    Due to the special construction and stable characteristics curve, the IST AG PW sensor is also suitable for low temperature applications. As an additional feature, the PW sensor is available in round ceramic housing with the same dimensions as a traditional wire wound sensor, meaning easy interchangeability into existing temperature applications.

  • Pairs and Groups

    IST AG offers sensor solutions based on paired or grouped sensors. In many cases not the accuracy of the absolute temperature is of importance but the relative deviation between two or more sensors. For these applications, IST AG offers specially selected temperature sensors into groups and pairs.

    Groups are used, if the relative deviation between sensors must be in the range of 50 mK to 100 mK but the absolute accuracy might be higher (e.g. according to IEC 60751 F0.3). IST AG sorts the sensors at the final measurement in different groups according to the customer requirements. The customer benefits that all sensors within a group meet the tight relative tolerance, but keeps the price benefit of a wider tolerance class. Customer-specific designed sensors benefit from this technique.

    Pairs are used in applications, where two sensors should have virtually no deviation between each other. IST AG sorts the sensors after the final measurement in such a way, that the two most similar sensors in terms of R0 and temperature characteristics are packaged together–taking into account the maximum allowed deviations given by the customer. In many cases this helps eliminate, or at least reduce the calibration efforts by the customer. 

  • Other TCRs (e.g. 3911 ppm/K, 3750 ppm/K, 3770 ppm/K)

    IST AG offers sensors with various TCRs.

    PG (3911 ppm/K)

    The IST AG PG RTD sensor is developed for applications requiring a GOST-coefficient 3911 ppm/K characteristics curve. The sensor is able to measure to IEC 60751 F0.3 or F0.15 accuracy in a temperature range from -200 °C to +600 °C (short-term applicable up to +750 °C). This Pt temperature sensor is characterized by a low hysteresis and a very stable characteristics curve. As an additional feature, the PG sensor is available with the same dimensions as a traditional wire-wound sensor meaning easy interchangeability into existing temperature applications.

    Application Note Temperature Platinum

    PU (3750 ppm/K)

    The IST AG PU RTD sensor is a Pt temperature sensor developed specially for applications requiring a TCR of 3750 ppm/K. It has been developed for long-term stability and can operate in the harshest conditions while experiencing minimal drift. The PU temperature sensor is offered in various dimensions and accuracies according to IEC norm, lead wire material and length.   

    +1000 °C (3770 ppm/K)

    The IST AG 1000 °C Pt temperature sensor is developed specifically for temperature applications up to +1000 °C (-70 °C to +1000 °C). The sensor is characterized by its 3770 ppm/K characteristics curve and excellent long-term stability in high temperature applications. The RTDs are offered with 200 Ω resistance and are available as wired version or wireless with Pt pads for mounting. Due to the small dimensions the sensor enables easy interchangeability and a fast response time.

  • ESCC qualified sensors for space applications / Hi-Rel sensors

    IST AG offers ESCC qualified thin-film Pt temperature sensors, applicable from -200 ° C to +200 ° C. The sensors provide stable measuring results at 70,000 cycles from -200 ° C to +200 ° C, which proves that the sensors are resistant against thermal cycles. The temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) remains very stable, also the sensors proved a high stability regarding drift. Further advantages of the sensors are the small size (L x W x H: 2.3 x 2.0 x 1.1 mm), the light weight and the robustness due to the lack of moving parts.

    IST AG is the first, and currently also the only supplier providing ESCC qualified Pt temperature sensors. The RTDs are available with different resistances ranging from Pt100 to Pt2000. They are offered with tolerance class B (IEC 60751 F0.3). The temperature sensors are available both as Engineering Model (EM) or as Flight Model (FM). We also offer customization of the sensors, e.g. extended wires (with an ESCC qualified wire).

    The certified sensors are suitable for High Reliability (Hi-Rel) applications, e.g. in industries such as aerospace or automotive.

  • Cu TCR according to GOST-norm

    IST AG offers thin-film sensors developed to simulate standard Cu wire-wound sensors with a TCR of 4280 ppm/K. This temperature sensor is developed and manufactured according to GOST 6651-2009 norm and offers all the advantages of a thin-film sensor such as robustness, small dimensions, short response time, vibration and temperature shock resistance and excellent long-term stability.

    Due to the small dimensions and various housing options, the IST AG Cu sensor with 4280 ppm/K coefficient is easy interchangeable. It is typically delivered with base resistances of 50 Ohm or 100 Ohm.

The Innovative Sensor Technology IST AG TSic sensors consist of chip-integrated and calibrated temperature sensors with an integrated signal converter for analog, digital or ratiometric signal output. The TSic product family offers a measurement accuracy from ±0.5 K to  ±0.1 K and also medium (0.1 K) to high (0.034 K, 0.004 K) signal resolution for optimal temperature control. The temperature measurement with the TSic is simple and offers excellent accuracy as well as low power consumption.

  • TSic 206/203/201 - Accuracy of ±0.5 K in a range of 80 K

    The TSic 206/203/201 Series of temperature sensor ICs is specifically designed as a low-power solution for temperature measurement in building automation, industrial and mobile applications. With a standard calibration and an accuracy of ±0.5 K in a temperature range of 80 K (e.g. +10 °C to +90 °C), the TSic sensors are more accurate than a class F0.3 (IEC 60751) platinum sensor in the range of 80 K. The range can be shifted up or downwards to reach a high accuracy of between e.g. -30 °C to +50 °C.

    The TSic has a high precision bandgap reference with a PTAT (proportional-to-absolute-temperature) output, a low-power and high-precision ADC and an on-chip DSP core with an EEPROM for the precisely calibrated output signal. The TSic temperature sensor is fully calibrated, meaning no further calibration effort is required by the customer. Extended long wires (> 10 m) will not influence the accuracy.

    The TSic 206/203/201 sensors are available with digital (ZacWire, TSic x06), analog (0 V to 1 V, TSic x01) or ratiometric (10 % to 90 % V+, TSic x03) output signal. The low power consumption makes it suitable for many applications.

The range can be shifted up or downwards.

    The TSic has a high precision bandgap reference with a PTAT (proportional-to-absolute-temperature) output, a low-power and high-precision ADC and an on-chip DSP core with an EEPROM for the precisely calibrated output signal.
