The sensor specialist Innovative Sensor Technology IST AG, with its headquarters in Ebnat-Kappel in Switzerland, keeps growing. In order to meet the increasing requirements on production and space, the headquarters of the globally active company is getting an extension. The new building is being built right next to the existing premises in Ebnat-Kappel. Construction works started at the beginning of September.

Over the past few years IST AG has been growing continuously. Meanwhile the company counts around 350 employees worldwide, more than 200 of whom are based at the Swiss headquarters. “With the new building we gain important infrastructure, which we urgently need for the expansion of our production as well as our office space”, Dr. Jörn Lützen, COO at IST AG and manager of the construction project, is explaining. “As a result of growing production volumes and an increase in the number of employees we are reaching our limits in terms of space. The new premises will give us the opportunity to both enlarge our production and still offer our employees an attractive workplace. On this occasion we would like to thank the community and all other public authorities whom we are working with on this important project.”

With the extension of the headquarters the total area of the company site will be doubled. In order to still ensure short distances between the individual divisions, the two buildings will be connected to each other. Apart from a large production area with an additional clean room, there will be new office space, more room for R&D as well as an ample canteen. Peter Anderegg, CFO of IST AG, is looking forward to the spatial enlargement and the resulting benefits. “With the extension of the headquarters we consolidate Ebnat-Kappel as a location and strengthen our importance as a major regional employer”, says Anderegg. The construction works are expected to last until fall 2018.
