Innovative Sensor Technology IST AG acquired Jobst Technologies GmbH

In February 2015 the Swiss sensor manufacturer Innovative Sensor Technology IST AG acquired the German company Jobst Technologies GmbH based in Freiburg im Breisgau and strengthened its position in the market for bio and chemical sensors. Jobst Technologies was founded in 2002 by Gerhard Jobst,  Isabella Moser and Prof. Gerald Urban, from the chair of sensors at Freiburg’s University Department of Microsystems Engineering.

Jobst Technologies holds a long history of landmark developments in the field of bio analytical microsystems such as biosensor arrays for medical applications and biotechnology. “We have been working with IST AG for many years already and know the company well. We are convinced that the acquisition will be beneficial for both parties and that the development of further reliable and innovative sensors will benefit the customers and strengthen both companies in the future. Jobst Technologies will remain in Freiburg and the joint efforts and business opportunities will give Jobst Technologies great possibilities to grow,” says Gerhard Jobst, CEO and founder of Jobst Technologies. 

The acquisition of Jobst Technologies has been an important step for IST AG in the further development of bio and chemical sensors. “We have successfully been working on expanding our own portfolio for the biotechnical, industrial, pharmaceutical and medical industry and now find that the timing is right for a further expansion of our product portfolio,” says IST AG CEO Dr. Mirko Lehmann, “With the acquisition, we hope to strengthen our position in the market of physical, chemical and biological sensors,” he finishes.
